History of the College

The 75th anniversary was celebrated in our college in 2019. It is a lot not only for the college, but also for the state. The technical school has been going through these years together with the country, participating in its development.

Ukraine had been destroyed during the World War II needed trained personnel of the building materials’ industry - this became the main task for the employees of the Kiev industrial technical school, which was found on April 22, 1944 by the Resolution of the CK CP(b) №399. Kiev industrial technical school has already become a Separate Structural Subdivision Kyiv Industrial College of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.

Since May 9, 1944 (when the first order was issued), Kiev Industrial College began its activity.

In the summer of 1944 the first set of students was made for such specialties:

· Silicate technology

· Equipment of the building materials’ industry

· Open development of coal and nonmetallic materials

· Civil and industrial construction.

363 students completed the first enrollment of 1944. On October 1, 1944, Kiev Industrial College began its first academic year. The first issue of 1947 was 168 specialists.

1944-1954

During the period 1944-1945 the technical school was headed by the directors: S.I. Marchenko, D.S. Davidov, A.P. Svitnitsky.

From December 1945 Andrey Grinevich was appointed for the position of the director of Technical School. An orphan who was raised in an orphanage, he began his work at the Bolshevik plant.

A. Grinevich worked, studied, fought and was seriously injured in 1943. He was the director of the plant named after I. Lepse from November 1943 till June 1944. Maxim Kogan-Kohanenko was appointed the first deputy director of educational work.

Classes were held in the schools’ buildings in 48 Malovasilkovskaya st., 48 Shota Rustaveli st., 7 Kladovischenska st. apartments for the hostel were located on 24 Poltavska st., 80 Chervonoarmiyska st.

On July 31, 1946, the technical school moved to the new building of school № 27, in 34 Olehivska Street. 355 students were studying in severe conditions.

In summer, students were working on the reconstruction of Khreshchatyk (Building №27), Saksahanskaya Street and in the utility farm.

In the early 50's, young employers came to the technical school, who gave their working life to this establishment: Olena Maryanova, Valentina Nikolaeva, Victoria Saynog and Mira Korolenko.

The evening branch was opened in 1953 - 1954.

1955 - 1963

From 1955 to 1963 the director of the technical school was Franz Wojciechiwski Markovych, a chemist by profession. During this period, the technical school completely relocated to the apartment on 36 Olegovskaya Street.

At the same time, the construction of locksmiths and mechanical workshops began, laboratories of silicate technology, analytical chemistry, metal technology physics, drawing, safety, history, political economy and more are equipped.

Until 1957 studying at the technical school is paid, but orphan students and children from large families study free of paid.

In the 60's students from the Republic of Cuba studied at the technical school.

Since the mid 1950s the technical school has been expanding its network of specialties.

It begins to train specialists in the following areas: electrical equipment of industrial materials, metal processing by cutting, planning of the construction industry’s materials, gas technical heating equipment.

Teachers start their work biography: Olha Bila, Tamara Drogan, Inna Sulimenko, Lyudmyla Lyvitska, Lyudmila Horoshavina, Antonina Bisova, Galina Gavrylyak, Petrolyangarova Petrolyangarova, Iza Krasnolenskya, Klara Petrova, Margarita Bolgarova.

The director of the technical school was Volynsky Volodymyr Petrovych in the period 1963-1976. The soldier, commander of the 8th Panfilov’s Guards Division was badly injured in the fighting in this area. In the years of his leadership there was a building of a hostel on Shamryla Street, a new educational building was laid on 24-A Novoukrainska Street.

The pedagogical staff together with students worked more than one hundred hours on the construction of a new material and technical base.

On September 9, 1976, the technical school moved completely to the new building where it is working now. The staff is creatively working on the creation of new offices, laboratories, is actively engaged in the methodical work.

The planned economic department and specialties: “Thermal equipment of enterprises of building materials”, “Technology of plastic products” were opened in the 60th.

The quantity of students has increased, the extra department has considerably strengthened.

There are a lot of teachers who have worked more then ten years: Margarita Ushakova, Evgeniy Yepifanov, Neonila Karpova, Hanna Cherenko, Olympiada Ryzhova, Irina Baglei, Elvira Kalyayeva, Kira Shosak, Lidia Taladion, Lidia Trygub, Julia Sokolova, Anatoliy Harchenko, Anatoliy Batrak, Valentyna Kyshynivska, Tamara Yakymchyk, Kateryna Vdovychenko, Olga Maslova, Olena Lapshina, Galina Gajevska.

1977-1985

Kuryl Smirnov was headed by the technical school from 1977 to 1985. He has made his way in the building materials industry from a mold-making worker to the General Director of the association “Kievbudmaterialy” of the Ministry of Industrial Materials of the USSR. During these years the creation of a modern training and laboratory was based in the technical school.

All-union meetings, conferences, city methodical associations were held at the technical school. The tradition of the technical school included holding annual sports holidays, hiking and others.

During that period, new teachers cаme to the technical school, who gave it their years of life: Mikhailo Syomko, Vasylii Lysenko, Nataliya Podkolzina, Galina Varetsova, Tatiana Prypik, Igor Berezetskyi, Zoya Semenova, Ludmyla Matsko, Galyna Horkova, Larisa Timchenko.

Taking into account the needs of the national economy, the technical school trained specialists in 19 specialties during its existence. These are:

Building Materials Industry Planning

Gas heating equipment

Electrical equipment of industrial enterprises

Cutting of metals

Operation of heat engineering equipment and etc.

1986-2015

From 1986 to 1988 the technical school was headed by Burba Vasily Mykolaevych who had worked in the building materials’ industry for over than 30 years.

Olena Tumanska - Honored Education Worker of Ukraine was headed the College from March 1988 to 2015.

During 2006-2007 the director created "The Association of employees of higher educational institutions of I-II levels of accreditation" and she was elected as the head of it.

On the initiative of the director who understood that it was necessary to move forward, new modern professions appeared in the establishment: "Installation, maintenance of facilities and systems of automation of technological production", "Stock exchange activity" (including specialization "Valuation of integral property, real estate operations"), "Fine arts and crafts" and "Machines processing on automatic machines and automatic lines". With the introduction of new specialties, new offices and laboratories were created.

By the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 547 of June 26, 2007 the Kiev Industrial College was renamed into the State Higher Educational Institution "Kyiv Industrial College".

From our three specialties: "Stock Exchange Activity", "Manufacture of Refractory Non-Metallic and Silicate Materials and Products" and "Maintenance and Repair of Equipment for Building Materials Enterprises" our educational institution was based. The teachers have developed the State standards of the previous generations of specialties and developed the State standards of the new generation for four specialties: "Marketing activity", "Evaluation activity", "Manufacture of refractory non-metallic and silicate materials and products" and "Maintenance and repair of equipment of construction materials enterprises".

The Kyiv Industrial College is a member of the Association of Realtors of Ukraine and the Association of Enterprises "Kyivmiskbudmaterialy" where students undergo internships and find employment after their graduation.

2015 –

In 2015, according to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated April 2, 2015, №389 of the State Industrial College “Kyiv Industrial College” was reorganized by joining the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture as a separate structural subdivision.

Since September 2015 the separate structural subdivision Kyiv Industrial College of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architectureis headed by the candidate of pedagogical sciences Svitlana Mykhailivna Kikto.

Admission is based on 9, 11 classes and skilled workers.

Since 2016 the sector of the Institute of Innovative Education of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture was opened in the college. After the receiving the Junior Specialist Diploma students can continue their Bachelor's and Master's Degree studies.
